Welcome

I started fishing in Wichita on June 10, 2009.  This is the first time I fish for catfish, bass, crappie, wiper, or saugeye.  I have been a small stream trout fisherman for over 50 years.  Since this is all new to me, I have been studying, and posting what I learn on my website, http://www.cantos.org/fishing .  I know there is much more to learn, so I started this blog, where you can share your experiences fishing in Wichita.

  1. I have fished all of the CFAP lakes in Wichita. Now I am wondering about all those many private lakes. My dentist says that the small pond behind his office at 2050 N. Webb (at the new Regent Senior Living Center) is so good, that the bluegills just jump onto his son's bare hook. They have another fishing pond in the back. I have permission to fish at Larkspur, where Tony Hill has fished for years, catching and releasing many large bass. Yesterday I fished a small pond at Sawmill Creek that does not even show up on Mapquest. I took home 6 of the bullhead that I caught on minnows.
